TCS Signs 10-year Contract with Transport for London to Digitally Transform Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing Administration 

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has been selected by Transport for London (TfL) to design, implement and operate a new smart mobility system that will reimagine the administration of taxi and private hire vehicles in London.

Over the course of the 10-year contract – which has the opportunity for a five-year extension – TCS will digitally transform taxi and private hire licensing and administration, as well as implement continuous improvements and innovation, responding to evolving industry trends and customer demands.

TCS will design and launch the new system using its DigiGOV™ framework for rapid digital transformation. The system will include an on-demand data and records management system that will enhance user experience by offering services like licensing payments and refunds to vehicle operators and owners through digital channels. Streamlined workflows link the user-friendly front-end interfaces with back-end activities such as bookings, personal detail processing and vehicle inspections. This digital shift by design, will encourage a self-service approach among licensees. Further, with data hosted on AWS cloud, the new solution will be scalable to accommodate future growth, and resilient so customers don’t face outages during operational hours. 

The new system will be flexible and extensible to comply with evolving policy requirements and legislation. As part of the change management, TCS will conduct in-depth training as part of the onboarding process.

Zydus Cadila receives tentative approval from USFDA for Brexpiprazole Tablets

Zydus Cadila has received tentative approval from the USFDA to market Brexpiprazole Tablets in the strength of 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg, and 4 mg. (US RLD: Rexulti Tablets). Brexpiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic indicated for use as an adjunctive therapy to antidepressants for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and for treatment of schizophrenia. The drug will be manufactured at the group’s formulation manufacturing facility at the SEZ, Ahmedabad. 

The group now has 321 approvals and has so far filed over 400 ANDAs since the commencement of the filing process in FY 2003-04. 

BHEL further extends footprint in HVDC based Power Transmission with +800 kV, 6000 MW Raigarh-Pugalur UHVDC link 

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has added another feather in its cap by playing a key role in the successful implementation of the +800 kV, 6,000 MW Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) Link between the Western Region Grid (Raigarh, Chattisgarh) and the Southern Region Grid (Pugalur, Tamil Nadu). 

BHEL is proud to have been associated in building this prestigious project of national importance, which will bring relief to the power deficit Southern Grid. For this project, among other equipment and systems, BHEL has significantly contributed by supplying Converter Transformers, Shunt Reactors, Filter Bank Capacitors and Instrument Transformers from its Bhopal Plant and Thyristor Valves from its Electronics Division, Bengaluru. 

These Thyristor Valves are used to convert AC Power generated at the IPPs at Raigarh into DC power for transmitting it over a HVDC transmission line of over 1800 kms and then converting it back into AC at the Pugalur end for interconnection with the Southern Grid. BHEL, in partnership with Hitachi-ABB Power Grids Limited, had secured this landmark order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in 2016. 

Significantly, this is the second Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) Transmission Project by BHEL. Prior to this, BHEL had successfully executed, the first ofits kind in the world, Agra Converter Terminal for North-East Agra +800 kV, 6000 MW, Multi-Terminal HVDC link in September-2016 (Bipole-1) and September-2017 (Bipole-2). 

BHEL has been associated with HVDC projects in India since their inception by establishing the first HVDC link in the country between Barsoor (Chhattisgarh) and Lower Sileru (Andhra Pradesh). Subsequently, BHEL has been involved in successful execution of several HVDC links like Rihand-Dadri, Chandrapur-Padghe and BalliaBhiwadi links. The company has established state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for HVDC products up to 800 kV and undertakes turnkey projects from concept to commissioning as an EPC contractor for EHV Substations, HVDC Converter Stations and FACTS solutions backed by Power System Studies. 

Hon’ble Union Minister of Heavy Industries inaugurates state-of-the-art Data Centre at BHEL, Bengaluru

Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Union Minister of Heavy Industries, inaugurated a modern, state-of-the-art Data Centre at BHEL’s Electronics Division, Bengaluru. Established to commemorate India’s celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and as a step in BHEL’s Digital Transformation journey, the Data Centre at EDN encompasses the data centres of all the three Bengaluru-based units of BHEL, namely Solar Business Division (SBD), Industrial Systems Group (ISG), as well as Electronics Division (EDN). 

The facilities at these three units have been brought together and co-located in one place leading to optimisation of IT infrastructure, better data security and reduction in operating cost. The connectivity to SBD and ISG, located about 12 kms. from EDN, is provided through high-speed multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) for increasing the speed and also to control the flow of network traffic. 

Addressing the employees, the Hon’ble Minister said that the newly-inaugurated Data Centre will provide advanced solutions in today’s digital ecosystem. He also hailed the Remote Monitoring and Diagnostic System (RMDS) developed by BHEL, as a step towards realising the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of providing quality power to all citizens. The system has the capability to predict problems in power plants which can aid in preventive maintenance. Speaking about the various contributions of BHEL, he said that the company is playing an integral role in the flagship programmes of the Government of India like the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The Hon’ble Minister added that he was happy to note the role played by Electronics Division in projects of national importance like the supply of space-grade batteries and solar panels for space programmes, supply of integrated platform management system for the first indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant and the development of traction systems for the country’s first AC-EMUs.
