L&T Signs MoU with Tamil Nadu government to build a Data Centre at Kanchipuram

Larsen Et Toubro, the leading Indian multinational conglomerate, has signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish a data center at Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, The MoU was signed at Coimbatore, by Mr. Sudhir L. Mahajan, Vice President Et Head Data Center Business, L&T and Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, IAS, MD Et CEO, Guidance, in the august presence of Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu, Thiru M K Stalin and other officials from L&T.

L&T will establish 90 MW capacity Data Centers and associated units in a phased manner in Kanchipuram over the next 5 years. The company envisages to employ around 1100 people (600 direct and 500 indirect) in the project.

The Government of Tamil Nadu will provide uninterrupted power supply and other infrastructure support on a best-effort basis that will bring tangible economic and social benefits to the people of Tamil Nadu

L&T will be establishing hyperscale Data Centers at Kanchipuram to provide comprehensive solutions and end to end data center services, with multi-cloud managed and cyber security services, digital transformation integration services and application integration services.

We are pleased to inform you that we have commissioned a Waste Heat Recovery System at newly commissioned Third Line at our Jayanthipuram Plant today. Out of the two boilers in the Waste Heat Recovery System of Third Line, the boiler at the Cooler namely, Air Quenched Boiler has been commissioned and we are capable of generating 5 MW Of additional power from Waste Heat. This will augment our total power available from Waste Heat to 21 MW, out of total possible generation of 24 MW. The other boiler namely the preheater boiler of the third line will be commissioned in June 2022.

Thermax bags Rs. 830 crore order for three Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) systems 

Thermax Limited has concluded an order of Rs. 830 crore from an Indian power private sector company to set up flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) systems for their three units of 660 MW capacity each in the state of Uttar Pradesh

The FGD systems will be installed at their plant to cut down SOx emissions and comply with the air quality standards set for fossil fuel based power plants. 

“Our proven technological capabilities in the area of air pollution and gaseous abatement, especially FGD, where we are already executing a few large orders, led to this competitive win. In addition to supporting the customer in meeting statutory compliance related to industrial pollution norms, the project reinforces our commitment to the environment,” says Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO, Thermax Limited.

The scope of supply includes design, engineering, manufacturing, civil work, construction and commissioning of the FGD systems. The project is slated to be completed in 36 months.
