Telangana State and MedTechConnect launch Project Tej An initiative to provide open innovation testbeds to accelerate MedTech innovations

In order to provide a platform which can enable aspiring entrepreneurs to test their innovative ideas in the field of medical technologies, The Government of Telangana and MedTechConnect, a platform founded by Cyient and Xynteo's India2022 coalition have joined hands together to launch a new initiative called Project Tej. As part of BioAsia 2020, Asia's largest Biotechnology and Life-sciences forum, today Telangana State's Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and MedTechConnect have signed a Memo~andum of Understanding (MoU) in an endeavour to accelerate and support the indigenous innovations in medical technologies

Through Project Tej, medical technology innovators and device manufacturers can validate the usability of their devices in public health settings and gain access to public health channels. Project Tej testbeds will co':1plement Telangana state's infrastructure projects, which include the Telangana MedTechl Park and ensure that Telangana becomes a favorable destination for MedTech investments. "Telangana state is now synonymous with innovation and technology. With this initiative, we want to use the expertise available in the state to ensure ground-breaking medical technologies can deliver quality healthcare for all," says Ajit Rangnekar, Director General, RICH.

Project Tej will accelerate the adoption of indigenous and cost-effective innovations in medical technologies in India's public health systems. This wi ll be done by bringing together an alliance of industry, hospitals, start-ups, and ecosystem builders in the MedTech space. "Implementation of Project Tej will help provide real-world access for companies to test and commercialize their technologies. We hope this creates an encouraging environment for local start-ups to bring their products to the market," says Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Executive Chairman, Cyient.

JINDAL STAINLESS


Jindal Stainless Limited advances digitization level for AOD converter

Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), India’s largest stainless steel manufacturing company, has successfully completed level-2 process automation for its Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) converter at its Jajpur plant in Odisha. The automation process has helped the Company achieve ~ 10% improvement in productivity with the help of real-time carbon and temperature analysis during production. This process was completed in a short span of two weeks with Primetals Technologies Limited as the implementation partner. This is the second digital transformation adopted by the Company after last year’s migration to SAP BW/4HANA.

AOD process is used worldwide to primarily produce stainless steel and other high-grade alloys. The process filters out carbon and other impurities to achieve better product quality. JSL has been operating its AOD converter since 2011. The newly upgraded level-2 system offers a large number of interfaces and is now integrated with the existing technological set-up at JSL.

Nelco becomes the first company in India that has successfully operationalised the entire scope of the IFMC license for Maritime and Aero IFC services

Nelco, a Tata Enterprise and India's leading VSAT solutions provider today announced the launch of Aero In-Flight Communication (IFC) services in India. Nelco is the first Indian company to provide this service in the country, marking the beginning of a new era of WiFi on aircrafts in Indian skies. Nelco has entered into a partnership with Panasonic Avionics Corporation for offering these services. 

With the launch of these services, it will be possible for international aircrafts flying over India as well as domestic airlines to offer broadband internet services to its passengers on board. The Aero IFC services will enable seamless at-home and in-office experience in the skies for airline passengers. Further, it gives an opportunity for airlines to differentiate with others, enhance passenger experience, drive passenger loyalty, open up additional onboard revenue streams and optimize flight operations. Vistara has already signed up for Aero IFC services and is likely to be the first domestic airline company to launch these services very soon.

In December 2018, the Government of India announced the licenses for In-Flight and Maritime Communications (IFMC) that allows broadband internet services while flying over the Indian skies and sailing in Indian waters, both for international and Indian aircrafts and vessels. The IFMC license is a key initiative of the Telecom Ministry, a move to liberalise satellite communication services in India. Nelco obtained the IFMC licence and is the first Indian company to enable communication services for the maritime and airlines sectors in India

Currently, Nelco is the only company in India that has successfully operationalised the entire scope of the IFMC license comprising of both, the Aero In-Flight Communication and Maritime Communication services. Nelco plans to establish itself as a leader in the Aero IFC services space in India in the near future.

 In early 2020, network creation capital expenditure has been accelerated by major European, Middle East, Africa and South East Asian network creators. As STL has strategically invested in these markets it has disproportionately benefited by this acceleration, driving over 65% of Connectivity revenues from these international geographies. Alongside this, in India, the rural broadband projects are moving to the next phase of digital infrastructure buildout in leading states like Telangana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. This is coming after a year of relatively slow growth in data network infrastructure buildout.

Trigyn Technologies, Inc., has been awarded a contract to provide IT Technical Resource Augmentation Services by the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM) in the East and West Geographical Zones of Ontario. The services will be provided to OECM customers which include Ontario’s publicly funded education institutions (School Boards, Colleges and Universities), and Broader Public Sector (BPS) organizations, including municipalities, hospitals, community care access centers, developmental services organizations, crown corporations, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

The award is for a period of three (3) years, with an option to extend for an additional two (2) years, bringing the potential term to five (5) years. Trigyn was selected as one (1) of three (3) suppliers to service these entities
